My Unfair Lady

Do you like spunky heroines, sexy gents and memorable side characters? If so, then make sure to pick-up this enchanting historical romance. The hero Byron is very endearing. The heroine’s (Summer Wine Lee) best friend Maria was a pleasure and added just the right amount of comradery to this romantic tale.

Summer and Maria are in London. And my oh my they need help and quick. These two American girls are sure to make an impression on the English court. Summers motive in coming to London is to be introduced to the queen and to be found acceptable. With the Queen’s approval her New York fiancé’s family and his aunt in particular will accept her. She wants to be good enough to be associated with his family and be able to move in his circles. But like I said…she needs help becoming that type of woman.

So like the woman in the musical My Fair Lady, Summer gets some training. But this tale is much different than the musical. This tale is humorous and quirky. Summer finds herself an impoverished Duke to show her the ropes. She offers him a stake in her railroad and with his acceptance we are all off on a ride of hilarity and antics.

How will her training go? Will she be able to get rid of all those Americanisms? Will the king take a liking to her and will the queen accept her? How will she deal with all the emotional consequences associated with taking up with a new man, while already being the fiancé to another? You must find out!

This is the fourth book I’ve read by Ms. Kennedy and I’ve loved every one of them. Every story has its quirky heroine and strong interesting hero. All of her stories have been quite unique and memorable for the characters always move the story along at a fast clip. I’ll not so patiently be awaiting the next Kathryne Kennedy title and looking forward to more memorable characters and environs.

Book Blurb for My Unfair Lady

He created the perfect woman…
The impoverished Duke of Monchester despises the
rich Americans who flock to London, seeking to buy their way into the ranks of the British peerage. So when railroad heiress Summer Wine Lee offers him a king’s ransom if he’ll teach her to become a proper lady, he’s prepared to rebuff her. But when he meets the petite beauty with the knife in her boot, it’s not her fortune he finds impossible to resist…

For the arms of another man
Frontier-bred Summer Wine Lee has no interest in winning over London society—it’s the New York bluebloods and her future mother-in-law she’s determined to impress. She knows the cost of smoothing her rough-and-tumble frontier edges will be high. But she never imagined it might cost her heart…

From acclaimed author Kathryne Kennedy comes a delightful new take on the romantic classic My Fair Lady. As a Wild West beauty takes Victorian London by storm, the devilishly handsome duke she’s hired to instruct her in proper deportment begins to wonder if his unconventional pupil might be perfect just the way she is...
