With the Olympics coming up, "Shot on Gold" the perfect book to get you ready to enjoy them, or remember them. Though this book is totally fiction, the intensity for perfection and the drive for first come across and you know that these characters are dedicated athletes. I loved all of the characters but especially Will and Amber. They had a lot of growth in this story and their decisions reflected how they actually lived and worked. The behind the scenes in the Olympic village were so realistic. I have no idea how based in reality they are but I would think that Ms. Burton got it close is many aspects. I loved that dreams come true in more ways than one. This was a book that once I started I couldn’t put down even though I was sure how things were going to end. I just got wrapped up in everything going on. Though this book is part of a series, Play-by-Play, it definitely stands alone and can be read without having read any other book in the series. It’s a perfect story for the season.
Amber knows that this is her last shot for gold. She’s been to the Olympics before and knows what she is up against. Now is the time to keep her focus. However, when her roommate convinces her to come to a party, Amber meets a hockey player who soon has her questioning all of her actions. Can she change how she interacts with people and still keep her focus on the gold or will relaxing her guard cause her to be distracted?
