"The Christmas Key" is part of a series but can definitely be read and enjoyed without having read any of the other Twilight, Texas books. From the horrors of war to the love of a young child, this story will have you in awe and wonder. Bad things do happen to good people but good things do too, even when you don’t expect them too. This entire story feels real and possible. Mark isn’t perfect but he also can’t take the blame for everything that went wrong. He has survivor guilt. It was fantastic that the veterans of Twilight took him in. Naomi is warm and loving. She wants to do what is right but she also wants what is best for her. That isn’t always the same thing. This book has the magic of Christmas as well as a sweet love story. I was swept away with it almost immediately and fell in love with the entire town.
The Story: Twilight Texas is more than a place of legends. It’s a magical place where love and forgiveness abound. Neighbors care for each other and lookout for strangers. This is the place where Mark’s soldier grew up and where his family still lives. Taking advantage of mistaken identity, Mark becomes the church handyman for the family he has come to see. Mark is drawn to the soldier’s sister but know nothing can come of it. Naomi has a boyfriend and she’s too sweet for someone like him. Naomi is questioning her love for her boyfriend and is finding herself looking at Mark as more than the handyman. As the truth of Mark’s visit becomes known, what will happen?
