The Dark Forgotten

Talia is having a rough Afterlife. Turned into a vamp against her will, she ran away from her crazy sire and took a bunch of money with her. Her cousin wasn't afraid to share her apartment in Fairview with Talia and took her in. She got a job teaching at the University but it was still a lonely existence. Then a killer takes her cousin's life and it could be that he was really looking for Talia. But will the police look for the real killer or just look at Talia as the culprit? Lore, Alpha of the hellhounds, isn't sure if Talia is a suspect or in need of protection. He noticed Talia and her cousin as his apartment is in the same building as theirs. When he discovers Talia's cousin dead, he takes Talia into his custody. He handcuffs her and locks her in his bedroom until he can figure out what is going on. But there is more going on than a simple murder. Evil is on the loose and it has its sights set on Talia and the city as well.

I have to confess I been anxiously awaiting this book, as I do every Sharon Ashwood novel. But this book was one I have been longing for ever since we were introduced to Lore, the Alpha of the hellhounds. The hellhounds had a very rough existence inside the Castle, the magical prison for supernatural creatures. Lore found a way out for his people and made sure that every one escaped. Since then he has made sure that his people have acclimated and thrived in Fairview. Now he is being pressured to pick a female hellhound and have young. The pack has a legend that the procreation of the entire pack hinges on the procreation of the alpha pair. But no one smells right to Lore until he encounters Talia. Talia has had a rough time of it herself. She is terribly attracted to him but at first is too upset about her cousin, not to mention mad that he locked her up until he was sure she was innocent . Her childhood wasn't sunshine and roses and makes her fear getting close to anyone in the supernatural community. She can't go back to her family because they would stake her on sight. I really see her and Lore as two lonely souls who find the one that is meant for them, who will be there for them no matter what. For all the serious events and dark deeds, that is the beauty and sweetness to Frostbound. The love between Lore and Talia is based on genuine wants and needs, desires of home and belonging, love and acceptance. Not only is the love story topnotch but the rest of the plot is tight. There is no character or situation that is introduced without it tying into the story as a whole. Seamlessly, the book brings it all together for a showdown that leaves some intriguing possibilities for future books. Frostbound is magic, let The Dark Forgotten cast its spell on you.
